Hello, my name is Narayan and I am currently doing a PGDE English at the University of Edinburgh. I also have a Bachelors degree in English Literature.
During my tutoring sessions, I like to familiarise myself with what the student is currently learning, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, to produce an interesting and productive tutoring session that will help the student in reaching their goal of improving their English skills from KS2 all the way to A-Level (or History from KS2 to GCSE). I can also tutor the Scottish education system (BGE, National 5, Highers, and Advanced Highers).
I like to make a detailed lesson plan in advance to our lesson, to ensure that you get the most out of each lesson, and that you are one step closer to reaching your academic goals.
I have 2+ years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant at a Secondary school, Primary school and a number of SEN schools. Whilst working as a Teaching Assistant, I helped my students in various subjects. I also learnt how to be compassionate to each student's needs, whilst knowing the importance of differentiating work depending on each student's level of knowledge.
In addition to my experience working as a Teaching Assistant, I have experience working online as a TEFL teacher to students in China during the 2020 lockdown. I am also fully enhanced DBS checked.
The English exam boards that I am familiar with are Edexcel and AQA. I am equipped to tutor English Language as well as English Literature at GCSE and A-level. I also like to go through exam expectations with my students to explain the best way to approach each question in order to get the best possible mark.
Last summer, I worked in Germany teaching students English, I loved this experience as it fuelled my passion for teaching, whilst giving me more skills that I can translate into my tutoring.
I am available for online and in-person lessons as long as the student is within a distance of Aberystwyth.
I look forward to seeing you in a lesson soon.
