The learning of carnatic music starts from basic swaras which includes the different notes ( similar to "do re mi fa") and then proceeds to keerthanas, which are great songs composed by famous musicians. These songs are mostly related to Hindu gods and were written in ancient times as a way of devotion to them. I have a learned them from a renowned teacher whom i am most grateful to. With practice and determination, students can do well. I am still a learner and always will be. I would love to teach what I know and also learn new things.
A simple string of swaras or a whole keerthana could be learnt each day and get practiced as possible. Students can be at ease and learn as well as enjoy the essence of the music.
