I have been employed as a maths and science tutor during my A Levels and have helped tutor four students during this time. This two years of experience has allowed me to find the most effective ways for me to teach students, and also be flexible in my approach to teaching these subjects to help maximise the retention of knowledge by my students. My lessons focus on fully securing and grasping the content of both maths and science respectively, before using this understanding to correctly answer exam style questions; this exam practice includes identifying trends in how questions are asked, as well as applying your knowledge in context to best prepare students for anything they may encounter in their future exams. I use an online, interactive lesson format through zoom or teams to help the students fully engage with the lesson but also to ensure that they can ask questions at any time they feel they need help. I will also set homework based on the lessons to help them consolidate their learning, whilst being able to respond to any queries they may have via email in an efficient manner. Finally, despite teaching them I feel it is important that students view me as someone they can go to should they be feeling down or stressed by their school work and exams; this feeling is common and I feel that having someone to guide them through it, having gone through exams recently myself, is important to help them maximise their potential.
