My teaching methods are unique and successful. I always put the student first and adhere to their needs. I like to focus on areas where the student is struggling and only move on once they are confident that they fully understand what they previously struggled with. Firstly figuring out what a student knows (and also where there might be gaps) lets me illustrate key links between new material and what has been seen before. Building a solid foundation allows my students to progress without anxiety. Confidence comes from creating a positive and supportive learning atmosphere. My relaxed, conversational approach allows students to quickly feel happy to try things out, talk through their thinking, make mistakes(!), and enjoy learning.
I like to ensure that students have covered all aspects of the syllabus and I like to regularly test them with examination style questions and past exam papers to ensure their memory is refreshed regularly. Learning to think independently is the only way to guarantee long-term success, so I fill my tutorials with genuine problem-solving opportunities. These challenges are designed to encourage deep thinking rather than mechanical rule-following. Combined with clear examples of how Maths relates to the real world, Maths becomes more comprehensible and relevant.
I can guarantee explanations that go to the heart of the matter and carefully separate what's important from what is confusing and unnecessary.
EXPERIENCE:
I have been offering private Maths Tuition since 2000. My students, who were aged between seven and twenty years old, came to me with a very wide range of mathematical aspirations:
- I regularly tutored students who were looking to build essential numeracy skills for Diploma, teaching qualifications and jobs related skills test
- Many Year 12 and Year 13 students approached me for help with Mock test preparation and specific topic like calculus and statistics
- Other students (from Year 11 and below) saw me for individual attention to support their regular Maths classes
- I also tutored students who wanted to enrich their mathematical education, through extension outside of the normal school curriculum.
