I am qualified Maths Teacher of 2 years. I also have 9 years of experience in working as a Maths tutor. In addition to this, I have a strong knowledge in Maths, up to A Level, as evident to tutoring year 12 and year 13, during my university studies, who showed immense progress. I use a variety of differentiation techniques to help my students feel comfortable with the topic, as well as scaffolding to whole concept. During my lesson, I use a technique called Socratic questioning, whereby I use effective questioning to promote critical thinking for my students. This is used when I first model a question and then allow my students to attempt a variety of example questions, to further strengthen their understanding.
Furthermore, I have a strong background in working with students of SEN and complex needs. This is evident to my time as a SEN teaching assistant and also provide private tuition for students in care and foster. Finally I always use a visualiser in my lessons, as students find it easier to understand the question when the class teacher is breaking down every multi step question. This provides students with a manual to attempt the AFL questions. All my students will be thoroughly checked for their understanding using plenary exit tickets, which summarises the lesson, or diagnostic questions to address common misconceptions. I have access to numerous Maths resources. Lastly, be ready for challenging extension questions to help stretch the knowledge of my high attaining students.
