Hello future students. My name is Mrs. Boyd. I use fun lessons! We will have so much fun reading things that you like. I want you to feel comfortable. We will be reading books at your reading level. You will identify the author, illustrator, main characters, setting, problem, and solution in fiction stories. We will discuss how the characters are feeling in the stories. You will be asked comprehension questions about the fiction stories.
You will get to make connections to the stories we read.
If the stories are non-fiction we will discuss the text features title, captions, headings, pages, photographs, diagrams, glossary, and index. The non-fiction books you read will be what you are interested in.
The types of resources that I will use are Epic and Read Works. Both of these websites have free access. I will be able to assign you books or articles to read that we will go over together in tutoring class.
My main objective will be to make it fun while we are learning. I want you to learn but in a fun way. We will be able to use many resources to read books on your reading level. We will work together so you can be a successful reader.
I will keep in touch with your family so they will know what we are doing in tutoring class.
