The way I would teach is using PowerPoint lessons along with using relevant books on Teaching English as a Foreign languages and go through the basics. I would use visual prompts too along with videos and fill in the blank activities. I would use effective modelling of I do, we do and you do approach. Before beginning the lesson, I would begin to see what learners already know in the form of a do now activity followed by informing learners the focus of the lesson and to assess knowledge and understanding, they would then do a short quick quiz. The next lesson will be a recap about the first lesson that was taught followed by a new topic. I will make the lessons engaging and informative, ensuring there is a balance of information and independence. I will pause before moving onto the next slide or concept to see what you understood and I am happy to repeat things if that would help. I will plan each lesson by having an appropriate schemes of work in mind that is suitable for the age group. We learn about English vocabularies, key English writing styles along with how English can be applied in everyday situations. My job is to ensure you learn and understand the language with confidence. I usually will use either Zoom or Skype for delivering the lessons and the PowerPoint would be shared on the screen. There will be some reading and comprehension activities too. These lessons will focus on your ability to read and understand English, spell words correctly, improve your English writing skills and how to apply English for various jobs and your daily life.
