In my lessons, I prioritize making math accessible, engaging, and relevant to all students. I understand that math can feel intimidating for some, so I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels comfortable asking questions and exploring concepts at their own pace.
Each lesson is structured to build understanding step by step. I start with clear, concise explanations of the concept, followed by examples that show the real-world applications of the math we’re learning. This helps students see the value of what they’re studying beyond just the textbook. After the explanation, we dive into guided practice, where I work alongside students to ensure they understand the process and can apply it confidently. Then, students have the chance to work independently or in pairs to solidify their understanding.
I use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles—visual aids, hands-on activities, and technology when appropriate. This ensures that all students, whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners, can engage with the material in a way that works best for them. I also encourage peer collaboration, as explaining concepts to others can deepen understanding for everyone involved.
With years of teaching experience, I’ve seen that fostering a growth mindset is key. I help students embrace challenges, build problem-solving skills, and celebrate progress, no matter how small. Ultimately, my goal is to build both their math skills and their confidence.
