I have been training for the last 3 years to become a primary school teacher. I have been able to gain amazing experience working with children with a range of learning abilities, language barriers and a variety of ages.
Through lessons I like to keep it up to the child. We can work on new material or focus on material they are currently learning at school/home. I can provide lots of different work sheets, strategies for solving problems and suggest different websites to best support the young person.
I have no expectation for progress, it is entirely up to the comforts and pace of the learner but I will try to encourage them and try make learning more relatable and fun to help boost their own confidence and desires to progress.
I will follow the associated government bench marks and experience and outcomes to ensure all aspects of each topic are covered before moving forward. Alongside this, through discussions and formative assessments,I will use the relevant data to plan future support for the learner.
I understand some young people can be put off by a new face so I am more than happy to have a couple of wee chats and ‘Getting to know you’ sessions before beginning with a tutor focus so that the young person is as comfortable as possible.
