Hello, I have joined here as a coach for students and not a tutor. I have no teaching experience, but have spent my whole working life in academia. I have met many interesting people and guided or nursed several students through their PhDs or master, sometimes students just need to speak to someone who is not their supervisor. I am also "switched" on to the ins and outs of the modern world, mainly because I have a daughter who is currently at University. I know from my time working in Universities that they can be a mind field, you get information and deadlines thrown at you on a daily basis and I would happily chat to anyone who is finding university life a mystery, or just life in general, it sometimes helps to talk to someone who is not involved in these things. Being at university should be a joyful time, but sometimes its not. Just before I "retired" an academic I knew as a PhD student, told me I should maybe get a job speaking to people, so you never know he might have been right.
