I am a third year medical student at the University of Manchester. I absolutely love my degree and thoroughly enjoy learning about the human body through a medical lens. This also means that I am no stranger to knowing how challenging exams can be for GCSE and A-Level students.
My favourite subject in school was English Literature and I still have a huge passion for it so you'll always find me reading a good book when I'm free. I have 3 years of experience in tutoring English Literature and Language, and Biology at GSCE and A-Level, teaching key medical topics in an interactive way to primary school students whilst at University and have mentored many students during their medical school application process.
I found exams to be challenging in school and this forced me to focus on finding my learning and revision style and utilise it to get into medical school. This has allowed me to really understand how students learn in different ways and I try to incorporate this into adapting my teaching style to suit each individual person. I like to explain key concepts in a visual way and make sure core understanding is there before throwing exam questions at students. I then will aim to bring grades up by looking at exam questions to allow students to apply their knowledge and gain the marks needed. I am more than happy to use drawings, flowcharts, mindmaps etc during my teaching sessions and will always be well-prepared for a session.
