I personally like to have an engaging environment in which both parties are willing to learn from each other. I believe that the only way to truly get someone to learn is by understanding them as a person first, which would then allow me to infer from that and pick out the best learning method for them.
I used to reside in Hong Kong before relocating to the UK for my studies, but I had prior experience in helping my previous classmates with tutorial sessions regarding writing and speaking English, as well as also having tutored younger children with their Phonics previously. I also speak both Mandarin and Cantonese proficiently, which is a huge benefit as it permits me to engage in a larger base of students who may not have the highest level of proficiency in English who requires help.
I understand that learning a new language - especially your native one is completely colloquially different - is an extremely daunting task, as I have once been in the same position. I offer my full support for those who are currently struggling.
