As an experienced secondary school Spanish teacher for 5 years, with an additional 4 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language, I am confident in creating exciting and innovative lessons. Within our online lessons, we will meet on Zoom, and will use PowerPoint as a base for our learning. Alongside this, I use a range of interactive digital tools such as Nearpod, Quizlet, and Blooket, all of which provide a range of fun activities to begin to solidify your knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. They also are able to provide me, as a teacher, with important information about your progress, so that I can adapt our lessons based on what you are finding more challenging.
I think it is important to focus equally on the four skills and to deliver as much of the lesson in the target language as possible. There is nothing more satisfying than feeling confident in being able to communicate an idea in another language. This is why, I think it is important to begin with foundational grammar points and common vocabulary so that at the end of the first lesson, you can communicate with me with ease!
I love languages, as much as I love learning about the culture that surrounds it. For this reason, I incorporate cultural knowledge into our lessons as much as I can- so that the language that you're learning begins to take shape and its place in the world. The Spanish speaking world spans many cultures and we can work with the country or aspect of culture that interests you!
