After the free 15-minute meeting where we establish the gaps in the students knowledge, as well as any additional requirements that they seek to gain from tutoring, the first session will involve the student sitting a mock paper in exam conditions to emulate what grade they are truly at and whether there are any further areas that the student may be lacking yet unaware of.
After this, the tutor will asses and mark the paper, going back over the paper with the student on the second session and planning future lessons in advance with these in mind.
Being as all of our tutors are from highly attaining schools, we employ a similar system within our tutoring lessons to give students the best learning experience. A generic lesson will involve a 10 minute starter that follows on from previous learning to consolidate knowledge and ensure it is not lost. The rest of the lesson involves going over a mixture of content and exam style questions. Whilst going over content, a strategy called 'active recall' will often be used to ensure the student is not just coasting but actively learning the content and it is retained. Time is left at the end for any questions regarding homework that is set/ extra work to go over outside of the tutoring hours.
Lessons will be done over zoom, where a tutor sends the joining link/code to the tutor via email for them to join.
Lessons may also be recorded and can be sent to the student upon request so that they may go over things they had learnt yet not taken note of (Note taking is highly advised).
