Typically, my lessons would consist of me working through an example problem in detail and allowing the student as much time to train their own critical thinking skills as possible. This approach works because it puts the student in a comparable situation to the exam sitting, and trains the mind to actively wrangle a mathematical problem. We will go through any material at any pace, and we will prepare well for whatever the student's goal is. Be that taking your GCSE's, AP calculus exam, or simply learning some mathematical reasoning to stay sharp with your critical thinking skills.
