My lessons are well-structured, starting with discussion of basic concepts relating to the topic, then gradually increasing depth as we progress through the theories, research, and real-world application of that. The lessons always include activities that facilitate discussion and understanding of the topic, as well as providing an idea of how theory can be applied practically. Each lesson is structured as follows: Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), lesson plan, basic concepts, theory, studies and research, practical applications, activities, and critical evaluation.
The lessons provide a safe environment for discussion of ideas and inquiry at any point. In psychology, critical discussion of concepts and expression of personal beliefs, ideas, and emotions allow for a much richer and fruitful learning experience than traditional one-way teaching methods. Additionally, I believe that a part of the first session should be dedicated to getting to know the students, their interests, needs, and goals, so I can better provide content that fit their aspirations.
Continuous feedback from students is a must, teaching is a dynamic two-way process that requires delicate consideration of what the students need, and what can be improved to better accommodate that.
