?? ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS ? GRADE 9 in GCSE ENGLISH LITERATURE ? A* in A-LEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE ? Msci (integrated masters) Architecture Student at UCL
As an Architecture student at University College London (UCL), I truly understand the importance of having an external tutor. I know I can provide a comforting, relaxing environment that younger students are excited to engage with. Having been in their place only a few years ago, I understand the difficulties that accompany school life and education, and thus can really create a nurturing environment where learning is encouraged, curiosity is encouraged and mistakes are not demonised.
During my A Levels, I worked part-time at the Explore Learning Orpington Centre. At least twice a week, often more, I would work two-four hour shifts, where I switched flexibly between the logical reasoning, reinforced by my Mathematics A Level, to the conceptual ideas of English. I understand how to firmly, yet patiently, explain ideas in a manner that prompts students to figure it out for themselves. As a result, the engagement of the students led them to excel exponentially, no matter their learning ability or age.
I previously volunteered at Orpington hospital, providing care for elderly patients for four months in 2021. This experience taught me the importance of patience, kindness and understanding when interacting with others. This definitely transferred to the way in which I interact with those around me, thus instilling me with a kind and patient demeanour.
so patient and lovely, helped my daughter get a grip with GCSE English Lit texts!

year 12 English literature felt like a massive jump from GCSE, but mlak reassured me by showing me her own year 12 & 13 work, her coursework advice and techniques, good notes for the texts too, totally recommend
