Providing an exact depiction of what our lessons would entail is somewhat challenging due to the unique nature of each student. Nonetheless, what I understand is crucial in teaching is that it must be captivating for the learner. I will make certain that the lessons are thoroughly planned and organized, allowing me to utilize the time as effectively as possible while also establishing a learning goal that the student can feasibly attain. I understand that merely discussing a subject is unlikely to be engaging, making it forgettable for students. Instead, I plan to incorporate numerous visual aids and engaging activities (such as pairing key terms or annotating images) along with active retrieval techniques (like flashcards, brief questions, spontaneous recall, mind maps, posters, etc.). During the lesson, I will ensure to monitor the student's comprehension to confirm they haven't overlooked anything. I consider my experience as a student because many of my teachers enjoy lecturing on a subject without making sure that the students can truly keep up. I needed to educate myself on many subjects through online materials and techniques, which allowed me to understand how I learn best. Hence, I would strive to discover how my students comprehend most effectively and adjust my teaching accordingly. For instance, if the student learns visually, I would implement color-coding, entertaining PowerPoint presentations, and diagrams. I used to teach both ballet and gymnastics to children from ages 3-15 where I had to be very diverse on my method of teaching depending on level, age and engagement so I will absolutely be taking that into account for tutoring classes.
