Focusing mainly on physics and mathematics; before revising, I generally like to get some details on who I'm tutoring. This would include how comfortable they feel with the subject in question, what specific parts they may want to improve upon, and what they hope to get out of our time together.
With this, I'd take to preparing example questions of varying difficulty and requirements of critical thinking to help provide a more comprehensive grasp on the study material. This may include the occasional tangent into other courses that relate to the subject matter to help provide easier connections in the overall course in the future as well as provide a greater understanding as a whole. While doing this, I may incorporate past exam questions or full papers into the lessons to better prepare them for the specific answers and notes said papers and their accompanying reviewers tend to look for during marking.
My end goal for those I tutor isn't just to become able to proficiently complete exams, but to gain a fuller understanding and potential enjoyment from the subjects we'll be revising so they may take what they've learned and apply them whenever and wherever.
