With 33 years of experience in the classroom, I am a highly qualified geography tutor who can help students achieve the best possible grades at GCSE and A level. I graduated with a First Class honours degree in Geography from the University of Leeds in 1990 and gained Qualified Teacher Status in 1991.
For the past 30 years I have been a Head of Department at a highly successful independent school in Northamptonshire. I am an examiner for WJEC/Eduqas and have experience of a range of exam boards including OCR, AQA and Pearson (Edexcel). I have also had experience of guiding students applying for geography-related courses at university and can provide a suitable reference.
I have extensive experience of fieldwork and coursework at GCSE and A level and can assist students in all stages of their NEA. I have particular knowledge of both human and physical geography fieldwork locations in Dorset, the North Norfolk coast, the Peak District, Snowdonia, the Yorkshire Dales and the Isle of Arran.
I have a proven track record of exam success with students achieving well above the national average in top grades, both at GCSE and A level.
Online lessons are delivered via Zoom and last typically 1 hour, although longer or shorter sessions can be requested. I deploy a variety of teaching styles depending on a students’ particular approach to learning. Lessons typically focus on exam preparation, helping with particular concepts or providing a complete GCSE or A level course. Pupils can have access to a virtual classroom of resources to support their learning.
