I like to have balance in my lessons, nobody wants to sit and look at theory for a full hour, or to work through scales. So my lessons work on developing knowledge of the instrument, the theory needed to play it, the practical element & capturing it. This means in an hour lesson you get 5 minutes of warm up exercise, 10 minutes of theory (with links for external practise), 35 minutes of practical rehearsal and 5 minutes at the end to reflect on what has been learned. I show my students what they need to rehearse when away from lessons (and provide recordings for them to practise to when required).
My aim is to have musicians of all ages creating new, exciting and original music and walking away from lessons feeling more confident in themselves. Music is my life & I'd love to make it interesting enough to become yours, too.
