My format depends very much on the age range of my students. However, I usually like to work with music, movies, dialogs, games, and to pull up the grammar from there, rather than the other way round. I do my best to get people passionate about my country and our lifestyle, and I do my best to avoid boring them to death with the grammar, although grammar is a fundamental part of the process of learning a language. For example, if I had the chance to do in person classes with adults, I would love to take them to a nice wine bar and have a conversation session over a glass of wine and an aperitif, rather than a traditional in-class lesson. Museums, theaters, and movies are great tools, too.
