It has always been my endeavour to address the wide range of abilities and interests of the student population by providing a variety of teaching methods and learning experiences required for all students to be successful. My view is that this approach conforms to the role of the teacher as the facilitator or enabler. My role as an English Teacher has been to be the supportive educator with an overview of the syllabus requirements and offering guidance to colleagues and students.
My clear vision of teaching focuses upon the learning and educational needs of the individual student. By encouraging exploration, discussion and the sharing of learning experiences, I have been better able to engage and stimulate students.
As a qualified English teacher in the UK, I have utilised a diverse and transferable range of literacy skills across the A level curriculum in English Language, English Literature, Media Studies and Film Studies. In addition, I have considerable experience of teaching English up to, and including, GCSE level. I have much recent experience in teaching English to non-native speakers and have considerable expertise at GCSE level, including ten years as an examiner for AQA.
