My lessons are exciting and intuitive, with a focus on the individuals’ needs. Having worked in an arts field prior to training to be a teacher I have a world of experience when it comes to tackling the difficulties of plays, poetry and Shakespeare which are key components of English curriculum. I also studied creative writing at University so am able to bridge the gaps between technical writing and creative writing an integral part of the majority of language papers and an area, that I have found students struggle with - not because they don't have the ability but because they don't always see the connection between the skills. Technical writing and creative writing are twins each different but each enhancing the other, it's usually just a question of refocusing the way we look at things to incorporate an alternative perspective.
With me students will learn to develop what they know, and to use those skills, to tackle what they struggle with. Ultimately it is their journey and needs to be navigated in a way that not only supports the student in the short term, but also provides a long-lasting impact that will only influence their future in a positive manner.
For all students the requirement to articulate and communicate ideas well is a necessity in this highly competitive world, regardless of what route they decide to take in their future journey. Integral to success is confidence! Confidence in one’s own mind, confidence in one’s own thoughts and confidence in one’s own words. Ultimately this is the goal I will aim to achieve with each and every one of my students, the confidence to be the very best that they can be!
