I have been teaching since 1993 and through my teaching methods I have been able to get thousands of students to pass their GCSE Maths with the grades they required to get them to go on to study A Levels or to find the job they wanted.
I use a 5 step method to enable my students to get the results they need.
1. Identify the student’s weaknesses/knowledge gaps.
2. Measure the student’s progress regularly.
3. Enhance study skills e.g. revision and homework.
4. Provide exam practice sessions.
5. Give feedback on the quality of exam answers.
It is absolutely essential to assess the gaps in a student's knowledge in order to make any positive progress and to therefore put in the building blocks so that the student starts to feel more confident. With this increase in confidence, a student will then become more motivated and once they enjoy success then their results will improve.
The student then needs to make regular progression and this can be provided by doing extra homework and receiving feedback to help improve the quality of their work. Exam practice and revision techniques are essential to a good result in Maths and the student has to enjoy the subject to perform.
I use up to date text books, excellent revision websites, presentations, past exam papers and a visualiser. I have quite a lot of experience with teaching students with special needs, for example, those with ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and dyscalculia.
In the past seven years I have been teaching online in Science, Mathematics and English as a Foreign Language. I am able to draw on experience from the real world of work in all of the subjects that I teach.
