My lessons are always tailored to the interests and goals of the individual student. Everyone is different and what we cover in our piano lessons will depend on what the student hopes to achieve.

For all students, children and adults, there are two key areas on which we will focus. Firstly, we focus on the ability to read music fluently, which greatly enhances a student's enjoyment and also the speed with which they can progress. Secondly, we will build finger dexterity and skill through fun but essential finger exercises. In addition to these fundamental skills, we will study a wide range of pieces, songs and other music according to the student's interests and what they want to play.

I also believe in integrating theory into lessons from the earliest lessons, especially with children. This is best achieved by including analysis of the structure, form and features as part of the process of learning a new piece of music. And it will improve the student's appreciation and understanding of the music they play, too.

I can confidently lead any student through ABRSM or Trinity exams up to and including grade 8+.

I offer piano lessons lasting 30-minutes or 1-hour. Music theory lessons are also available for anyone who wants help meeting ABRSM's theory requirements for grade 6+.

My lessons are available both online and in-person. Face-to-Face lessons are open to anyone living in Angus. Students wanting face-to-face lessons will need to pay an additional travel fee, the amount of which depends on the distance from Dundee.
