I've been teaching and tutoring for more than 20 years. I enjoy connecting the material to the real-world to make learning more authentic. I dislike direct instruction, preferring a more student-centered approach to problem solving. I am interested in observing a student's strategy towards answering a question and then directly addressing any obstacles that arise. I also like to introduce students to various public resources available and instruct on how to best use those resources to fit their needs. I am generally very patient, yet persistent. My philosophy regarding testing is it should be used mostly for diagnostic and formative assessment and evaluation.
