Before I start any lesson I first establish what the student needs and what are the expectations, I identify any knowledge or learning gaps and agree a plan with the students on how to transform those weak spots in to strengths. Lessons are therefore prepared for the specific needs of each student dependent on their requirements. My teaching therefore is totally centred on the student. I use PowerPoints and quizzes but focus a lot of discussion and improving student's analytical and evaluation skills which are crucial for obtaining best results for A Level. My lessons are fun and engaging and I encourage students to follow the news about key political trends which then become talking points, so lessons are brought to life with actual things that are happening in the real world of politics.
