Experience
My teaching philosophy is based on being sensitive to students' learning requirements. In my current position at NTC, I have gained a thorough awareness of my pupils' strengths, shortcomings, and distinct learning styles. For example, I recognized that some students had difficulty learning science concepts, so I used differentiated instructional strategies to meet their requirements. I provided further assistance, led small group activities, and provided hands-on resources to help them understand. It didn’t surprise me to hear from one of my students during their teacher appraisal that I had made him the second-best science student in the school. My learners gain confidence and make substantial progress in their conceptualization of science concepts as a result of this personalised approach. Because I breathe life into my teaching and I am enthusiastic in my teaching I always get to the class and see my students well prepared and waiting for me. I have aimed to ensure that learners develop and reach their maximum potential by regularly evaluating their progress, modifying my teaching approaches, and offering timely feedback to all stakeholders involved. I actively engage in continuing professional development to stay current on innovations in science education and to improve my teaching practice. I am currently the team leader of the professional learning community in my circuit. I recently participated in a workshop on integrating technology into science instruction. Recognizing the growing importance of technology in education, I investigated the impact of computer-assisted instruction on students' learning of balancing chemical equation during my MPhil work. The study found that seemingly difficult topics in science can be made easy for students with the use of computer-assisted instructions. This professional development opportunity provided me with new ideas for making science more approachable and relevant to my pupils. Throughout my teaching career, I have continuously sought opportunities to expand my knowledge of the subject. I gained a thorough understanding of the curriculum and its underlying ideas by immersing myself in research, attending subject-specific conferences, and interacting with others. I have joined a professional learning social network such as Research Gate where I get the opportunity to interact with professionals in my subject area. Because of my extensive topic expertise, I can deliver straightforward explanations, effectively resolve misconceptions, and create relevant linkages between science principles and real-life applications. Furthermore, I urge students to ask questions, think critically, and try several ways of problem-solving to gain better knowledge and respect for science. A student once made a remark that I teach science as if their lives depend on it and I took that as a compliment because of the way I go about teaching science.
As a passionate educator, my purpose in applying for a teaching job is to make a lasting impact on the lives of students. With my strengths and skills in behavioral and cognitive skills development, differentiated instruction, and excellent classroom management, I am confident in my ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
