Hi there!
My name is Mia.
Please find pertinent information below.
Education:
10 GCSE’s taken
Grades obtained: eight 9’s (A*), one 8 (A*), one 7 (A)
International Baccalaureate (pending grades)
Predicted grades:
higher level: 7,7,6 (A*, A*, A) Philosophy, Biology, Chemistry
41/45
Offer to study Philosophy and Psychology from Durham University.
Experience:
I have tutored previously in English (primary school level), Maths (primary school level), Philosophy (sixth form level) and Chemistry (GCSE level).
I can provide references upon request!
Methodology:
I love kids and helping them grow their love of learning, their confidence and capability. My aim is to improve their academic abilities through creating a non-judgmental and fun environment to learn. When tutoring a student I created a system with rewards that tracked his progress. I broke down the specification with a table and colour system; I asked him to use green, yellow and red to highlight his confidence in each area and after doing a session and work on a topic refill in the table with the appropriate colour. This was a great way to better understand what he was and was not confident in, track his progress and better understand which teaching methods he responded best to for example, doing lots of questions, using visual aids, flash cards etc.
Once an area improved from yellow to green for example I would put a sticker in his book and after he got 10 stickers I would buy him a small reward such as a football pencil or scented eraser!
Aim:
My aim is to help them with their academics of course but, along the way I want to create a positive opinion and view of the subjects they study. I know from past experience confidence is a huge factor! I used to very nervous to get things wrong or do badly when I was younger so I understand that can be challenging and often impact how a student learns or views education.
I understand no student is the same so I will always make an effort the get to know them and cater my methodology of teaching to each student.
The main thing I want to get across is I promise I am kind, fun, patient and here to help!
