I deliver student-centered lessons. My classes are generally very interactive. Students get to express themselves . This helps a lot in building their self-confidence in using the language as well as becoming autonomous. My lessons are planned based on the communicative approach. The main lesson aim is speaking. However, other skills including listening , writing and reading are implemented as well. MY lessons are accustomed to meet my students' needs. I usually start the first class with a needs analysis , getting to know you activities to identify what my students expect and what their strengths and weaknesses are. My lessons start with a discussion on a specific topic moving to pre teaching vocabulary or whatever target language I introduce, then the controlled practice where I help my students assess and reinforce their understanding of the lesson. The lesson always ends with a productive stage .This is when the students practise using the language I introduced through presentations , speeches, plays, written work , projects.... The last stage of my lesson is the error correction when I help my students identify their mistakes and correct them.
My lessons are generally fun. I have excellent rapport with my students . Students feel at easy expressing themselves , making mistakes and learning from them. I generally include games in my lessons for all age groups whether adults or children. I establish student friendly and competitive atmosphere to change the pace of the lesson. I understand that my students can sometimes come to class tired after a long day at work or school .So, I generally start with a warmer game and vary my activities between settlers and stirrers.
