In the first couple of sessions I'll work with the students to find which studying methods work best for them and what times/days work best for them for their own studying/revision away from my lessons. from this I will provide guidance on how to create study/revision notes and build on the students knowledge of the topics they are studying within English. Providing them with small amounts of homework to help develop their ideas and knowledge about the texts they are studying. Once we have built up a solid basis of notes and both the student and I are confident they are able to continue to make the same standard of notes without my guidance, we will move on to going through questions and looking at past papers and model answers. From which we will start practising our own essays and answering some past paper questions as well as supporting them with homework they receive from school, for the student to take to their in school teacher for accurate feedback (based on which examining board they are studying under). this feedback can be used in our lessons to improve upon answers and then ask for further feedback from teachers.

I have tutored younger students at my secondary school while I was studying for my A-level exams, I helped plan answers, explain questions and build upon knowledge of texts and how to write answers for different types of questions, in the early tutoring sessions and as the sessions continued providing guidance to build confidence and help the students be independent and assured in their knowledge and ability to answer questions and complete exams.
