I have been teaching Italian since 2004. I have been a teacher in a primary school for 19 years and I have a degree in foreign languages (Italian,English and Russian) University of Trieste, Italy. I also hold a PhD in Italian literature. (University of LJubljana, Slovenia). I like designing personal courses and if you need to study Italian from scratch we can do it quickly and effectively. In my opinion finding a variety of ways for students to immerse themselves in the language is one of the most important things when learning a new language. If you need to improve your speaking skills you can pick some interesting topic and we can talk about it in Italian. It is very important to encourage fluency of speech. It is also very important to use the language, develop comprehension skills and achieve natural pronunciation. The aim is to speak without hesitating or searching for words and phrases. Of course this is not to be confused with “grammatically correct speech". And last but not least - having the confidence to make mistakes, and opportunity to discuss and learn from them is absolutely key to language learning.
For lessons I usually use Skype, Zoom or Teams but there is no problem if you prefer some other online platforms. When learning a language I sometimes use educational videos , short video clips for more efficient processing and memory recall. The visual and auditory nature of videos appeals to a wide audience and allows each user to process information in a way that’s natural to them. In a nutshell, videos are good teachers.
