I'm a native Spanish speaker, born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have taught Spanish for over two years in several parts of the world, and there is nothing more rewarding to me than accompanying students through their language journeys and seeing their progress. I have taught Spanish in Brazil, the Netherlands and now the UK!
For my one-to-one students, my teaching style is very personalized to the student's preferred teaching format and goals. I will adapt to what works best with a particular student and choose the most suitable method for their objectives. For example, if a student has a grammar foundation in Spanish and needs to practice their conversational skills, I will structure my lessons in a way that prioritizes practice over theory. If a student is at the very beginning of their Spanish journey, I will combine a solid and clearly explained grammar section with initial practice exercises. I will also tailor homework activities to their schedules and learning preferences.
For my group lessons, which I usually deliver in person, I will implement my group teaching method which consists on 20 minutes of grammar explanations, 10 minutes of examples of a grammatical rule in use, and 30 minutes of conversational practice and written exercises. I will usually deliver interactive and culturally-relevant exercises as homework, including movies, songs, poems and short stories.
If you have any questions about my teaching experience, lesson structure or teaching approach, please don't hesitate to send me a message!
Nos vemos pronto,
Mel.
