My academic and professional background is in Chemistry, with an undergraduate degree in maths-heavy Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Organic Chemistry.
I worked in Research & Development in the pharmaceutical industry and in academia, specialising in the synthesis and studies of Chemiluminescent Organic Compounds for their novel use in Immunodiagnostics, as well as on the development of new drugs for the Central Nervous System.
During my time as a PhD student and throughout my post-doctoral work I taught chemistry and practical laboratory techniques to undergraduates as a Teaching Fellow.
I have also privately taught Maths and Chemistry to A-Level and GCSE students for over 30 years. I am now retired and have more time to dedicate to tutoring.
I take a first principles approach to learning and problem solving to make sure you have a strong foundation and to give you the right tools to apply to your studies far into the future.
We'll work together to build on the knowledge that you already have, to learn to spot the clues in the questions and to apply all of this to motor through your exams with confidence when the time comes.
I've got lots of revision materials, practice questions and exam papers for the different exam boards and I'll work with you on all of these in detail so that you're well prepared.
I am flexible on availability, happy to work after school hours and weekends especially in the push to exam time to give you all the help that you need.
