I tailor all of my lessons to meet all needs of my pupils. I follow an I do, we do, you do method to ensure misconceptions are noticed and addressed before independent work is started. I do is where I model the question, method and answer. This is followed by an another question set out the same as the last and is answered using the knowledge of my pupils. The you do is another question in the same style but the pupil is to complete this completely independently. I continue this method until full understanding is shown which is then followed by a series of questions to be completed independently and then assessed at the end.
Questions are spilt up into fluency, reasoning and problem solving to ensure the national curriculum is met during tutoring sessions. This is followed in all schools and will help prepare children for future learning and year 6 SATS.
Fluency questions will help you to apply the same skill to multiple contexts, and be able to choose the most appropriate method for a particular task.
Reasoning will help you to bridge the gap between fluency and problem solving and allow you to use fluency to accurately carry out problem solving.
Problem solving questions will help you to apply knowledge and skills you have to answer unfamiliar types of problems.
After gaining a general knowledge of what my students enjoy during their personal lives I try to incorporate these interests/hobbies into lessons to make them more enjoyable, relatable and relevant.
