Hi, I am a recent university graduate with a strong understanding of English Literature. I have previous experience studying many of the books and non-fiction texts currently a part of the GCSE and A Level curriculum, and understand what exam boards are looking for in high quality responses. I have experience volunteering with secondary school students to encourage confidence and engagement with reading aloud, following text, and listening to others. I aim to create a calm and patient atmosphere, allowing you space to guide sessions as and when issues or concerns arise.

My lessons focus on your needs. From reading comprehension, to planning and formatting essay responses, to developing revision techniques. This will equip you with the skills to improve your work and gain specific feedback on work you produce.

Lessons will be online, using either Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and will be one-on-one. The sessions will also be conversational, allowing us to talk through ideas, issues and problems, and give the student space to ask questions and develop their own critical thinking. Lessons will also involve interactive elements, such as quizzes, flashcards, mind maps, essay planning, discussing example work, and active reading. Potential homework may include asking the student to try out a new revision technique, writing a comprehensive plan about a topic or theme previously discussed, or writing an essay or paragraph in response to an example exam question.

After every lesson, I will recap what has been covered via email, and will provide feedback on any tasks or homework that has been set.
