I would structure my lessons to the student. I would ask if they wanted to go through something they didn’t understand in a lesson that week, if they wanted help with homework they were struggling with, etc. I would structure the lesson so we would spend half the time going through a particular part of the curriculum they were struggling with and the other half would go over other learnt material for a more holistic session. I particularly enjoy fun games with flash cards in the hope that if the student enjoys them, they can transcend the session and be done independently of me. Mostly, tutoring offers an experience separate from the classroom.
