- I enjoy finding out individual strengths and weaknesses one on one with my students , rather than to stick to one teaching method; as one may work for one pupil but not necessarily for another. It’s important to me that there’s a positive and productive rapport with whom I’m teaching because I believe it makes it easier for them to reach out to me in case an issue with my teachings is not helping them the way I thought it would. - Something about my teaching that makes me different from other tutors is that I know when to step in when someone is struggling but I do not sugarcoat or hesitate to push if I feel I am being not being taken seriously. There is a healthy middle in between authority and negligence is needed and I always aim to stay in the middle of that spectrum, although I tend to lean on the stricter side of discipline. Regardless of age, I consider it important to assign assessments and exams because it is important to know where you are falling behind. I encourage students to take initiative and challenge because it pushes them to develop better critical and analytical thinking skills, especially when they are younger— complacency leads to boredom which can lead to laziness and that is when you lose the student. I try my hardest to be understanding of my students’ situations and I want them to know they can come to me with their problems.
