Maya Viswa

Hello! My name is Maya and I would love to be your tutor :) A little about my professional and academic experience, I recently completed my Master's of Science degree at Columbia University in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution with a 4.1 GPA. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Warwick in Politics, Philosophy and Law with a First Class. In terms of professional experience, I have worked in the fields of law, media, public policy and humanitarian aid with firms such as Clifford Chance and Channel News Asia.

I have over 5 years of tutoring and coaching expertise and specialize in English writing, university/college admissions, public speaking and presentation coaching and mentorship. I have helped students with various forms of essay writing, university personal statements, career interviews and public speaking in various capacities. I have also facilitated English conversation workshops for international students as well as given professional workshops on engaging public speaking at Columbia University and prior work places.

My lessons and approach vary from student to student as I am a firm believer that every student has their own unique learning style and I do my best to adapt to that. I take time to truly understand the specific needs of my students and work with them closely to achieve their desired goals. I am also an incredibly friendly and people-driven individual so I enjoy getting to know my students and mentoring them in whatever way I can.
