Recent studies suggests that Interior Design is a complex practice by its nature that reaches beyond mere aesthetic niches of form, color, and space. There is an actual need to strengthen the educational courses and tools of Interior Design in order to enable students to develop a broad and unique knowledge relevant to the complex nature of Interior Design. Questions must be asked about the nature of educational values currently being taught in universities that are the pedagogical approaches followed in universities for preparing future professionals teachers ? The Interior Design disciplinary approach should integrate theory and practice to allow students develop professional competencies needed to interact with clients to solve interior space challenges. The design pedagogy should include history and theory, creativity, technical skills, and visual communication. The pedagogic approach should also emphasize on developing students’ philosophical reflection as part of the process while transforming concepts into workable solutions. In reflecting on theory and practice in the design studio, students should be also trained to the nature of Interior Design with the needs of the environment as well as the evolving Technology.
