I began practicing yoga seriously in 2020 when I found myself locked down in South Africa alone during the pandemic.
I'm sure everyone was affected in some strange way during the pandemic and for me part of the solution was to move, breath and be still.
Having trained at an extremely strict and serious centre it became pretty obvious this is not how I want to teach.
All red faced, looking serious and like everyone was sticking to a set of rules so strict no one could possibly meet them.
While the concept of yoga may be very serious, the most serious depending on who you ask I don't care about getting you into a perfect form (unless your current form is dangerous.
I encourage people in my classes to explore their bodies, their minds, their emotions, their thoughts.
My class is a space where everything goes while being respectful to others in the class.
The content of my class is a combination of vinyasa / hatha/ Nidra / Mindfulness / Breathwork
I will never move at a pace that is clearly too advanced for people.
I wish for people to gain the connection between their breath / mind / body
A single exercise done with control and calm steady breath is better than 15 sun salutations of huffing and puffing with poor form and hating the person asking you to keep going.
And always remember... BREATHE!
