My lessons replicate the Oxbridge tutorial system, blending this with my favourite school teacher who taught History using diagrams, with an energetic approach throughout.
I also draw on several resources, including my own notes. I encourage students to develop auditory, visual and kinaesthetic learning. I do this by prompting students to create timelines.
Sessions often draw on flash cards and mind maps to help students build out their knowledge of the subject.
I adapt this style depending on the audience in question. I also have experience supporting kids with anxiety, autism, Tourette's, ADHD and much more.
My style has been developed through working with a range of schools including Cardiff Sixth Form College, Wellington College, Marlborough College, Berkhamsted School and many more.
Through doing this, I have refined my approach, and in 2024 I devised several high level courses from scratch for Chinese students attending high level seminars in Oxford covering a range of topics. I also have run a summer course from beginning to end at Cardiff Sixth Form College. This helped several students crystallise their university aspirations and was a real boon for my tutoring approach.
I often use presentations in sessions to enable students to foster visual learning. In this way, students benefit from all three styles of learning and can find what suits them best - auditory, kinaesthetic and visual learning.
All of this combines for a tutoring experience that fosters longstanding learning journeys where students who are willing t work hard will likely achieve success.
