I have previous experience a both a babysitter and a tutor for primary school children working towards their year 6 exam. I help tutor these kids in maths, reading and spelling.
In the first lesson, I often try to figure out what a student has and hasn't done so far in their academic year, and what ways they engage with lessons more. I do try and ask parents about previous grades and old tests to see what they have struggled with in the past that I can help them improve on. If there is no information, the first lesson will most likely be a small test that I can then use to format later sessions on a students specific needs.
I often go over exam style questions and how to answer them in an exam, with different techniques to do so, as well as, more fun learning techniques like creating personal games for students based on the topics they are learning. On sites like blooket or scratch, or even traditionally.
As a games design college student, I specialise in fun and interesting ways to engage those who often do not understand lesson material as much as their class mates, or feel like they are falling behind in their lessons and want some extra support to help boost them to where they think they should be.
Although I do not have qualifications, I have previously worked with neuro divergent peers, and those in younger years to help them further their learning, and am more than willing to help accommodate those with specific needs.
