All my lessons are bespoke to each individual student, based on the level they’re currently working at and the topics they’re weakest in. A typical Maths lesson would include, a review of what the students have learned in the past week at school and testing them on their learning to see if it is a topic that I should go over. If it is, I would add it to a list of topics that we would likely focus on at a later date. Then for the rest of the session, I would go over topics on the list from previous weeks.

I would first give an overview of the topic then proceed to target in on individual questions. I would do 1 or 2 worked examples, then get the students to have a go themselves. We would mark it together and if we made a mistake, we would do another question of the same style until we got the hang of it. We would repeat this for all the questions in this topic, then move on to other topics if we had time.
