In all of my sessions I create detailed and easy to follow PowerPoints that will be made available to my students. I can happily format the sessions and PowerPoints to the students specific needs and ways of learning. My lessons always progress at the students learning speed and I ensure to do regular knowledge checks to gauge the student’s understanding. I use a mixture of historical imagery, source material and text to provide an all round engaging and highly informative tutoring session.
Throughout my own studies I learnt a number of highly valuable memory techniques that proved vital to my A-level grades. I ensure that my students are provided with the same methods.
I keep my lessons active and engaging, keeping the students involved at all times. I tend to teach my history lessons in chronological order however, when it is relevant, I feed in pieces of future information that tie back to past events. In this way, my students do not view historical events as one specific moment in time but instead are unable to pick apart the entire story; sometimes linking decades or centuries apart!
I find it key that my lessons suit the needs of the student. If there are any special accommodations I can make or any specific lesson that can be re-taught or taught in a different manner than I can more than happily accommodate. I can note-take and supply self-curated learning materials for the student to keep.
