Hi I'm Matti, an Msci Mathematics Graduate from the University of Bristol.
I have been tutoring maths online for over four years, and have helped a number of students improve their GCSE or A Level grades.
The key to succeding in mathematics is to truly understand why the concepts that we are taught work, rather than just accepting that they do. In recent years maths exams have required more in-depth approaches to problem solving, requiring you to apply your mathematical understanding in ways you might not have seen before. This was key to me in my degree, and a skill I hope to be able to pass on. I aim to give you a new perspective of maths and hope that a deeper understanding of the material will help you be just as passionate about the subject as I am.
Maths can be difficult for many people to grasp, with everyone having their own difficulties. As such, I aim to tailor my lessons to each individual, focusing on your needs rather than trying to make one size fit all. I will start each lesson by asking if there is anything that you want to go through to start, perhaps an exam question you found particularly difficult or a concept that you couldn't quite grasp during a lesson. Then we'll move onto the main body of the lesson. I'll normally establish what you want this to be during the previous lesson, or base it on the specification for your specific exam board. We'll finish by going through a past exam question based on what we've been learning before summing up what we've done and deciding what to focus on next time.
