Whatever those goals are, I find that it is always a good idea to begin each lesson with a brief warm-up activity before moving on to practice the specific skills that you want to learn.
From my own experience of learning Japanese, I know that understanding the history and culture of Japan can be really helpful when trying to make sense of the language.
