I like to structure the lesson around the individuals needs, the lessons range based on age, for a younger audience I will use games and try to make the lesson as fun and interactive as possible. Whereas, with a adult audience I will give more practical examples and make it more relevant for the age. I have worked as a tutor for over a year, online and in person and I have a passion for teaching and seeing people develop. I like to use the whole, part, whole teaching technique, this is where you are teaching a subject and you let the student try this subject at 100% for example a worksheet on tenses and the student has a go at writing the correct suffix for the words and then you break it down into a shorter learning block for example learning each tense a time. Then finally once you have introduced them to each tense and they are working at the desired rate you bring the student back to the original work and let them have a go at that. This technique shows the student that the whole task may seem near impossible at the start but then breaking it up into sub sections shows that the student is much better than they thought prior. I like to keep students engaged and I make sure that if students don't understand something I will give them a go at trying to explain how they believe it works and then I will help them correct that in a positive way, not trying to make the student feel downhearted.
