My name is Matthew, and I am a 37 year old TEFL/TESOL certified tutor from Essex, England. English is my first language; I was born and raised in England, and I speak with a Standard British Accent (received pronunciation). I was educated at Lancaster University in the north of England where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Film & Cultural Studies.

I have extensive experience totalling over 2000 hours in teaching Business English (both Intermediate and Advanced levels), Job Interview preparation, as well as IELTS exam preparation to students. The area I have had the most experience tutoring English in, however, is Intermediate/Advanced Business English. I really love helping students to grow and develop in their learning of English, as it can benefit their lives in so many ways, including personally, academically and professionally.

My teaching style is a creative one, (“The Facilitator”), that is structured around the specific learning needs of a student, as I know from my experience as a tutor that each student has their own individual and unique learning path. My classes are relaxed but also focused and detail-oriented. As a method of helping students to improve their pronunciation, I place a primary focus on stressed syllables and intonation. I am also a strong believer in conversational learning as being an effective way of learning a language as complex as English.
